For the past 3.5 years as Manager of Customer Experience at 55 Degrees, my role has been to help teams become more predictable by using our products (ActionableAgile Analytics and Portfolio Forecaster) and using flow metrics to use metrics while making decisions. This can go from updating their workflow to being more flow-focused, discussing blocked columns, and more. I love supporting and coaching customers; I recently became a PKT in order to deepen my knowledge and be able to provide more in-depth training. I’m active in the PKT channel and love discussing new ways of improving flow. I have a love/hate relationship with blocked columns. I hate them, but I love showing people better ways of blocking their work while not messing up their flow metrics.

How one change in your daily routine can improve your delivery

Since our dev team started paying attention to the age of their WIP during their morning meetings, their dev time was halved. It went from 85 days to about 45 days and has remained consistent for the past 3 quarters. All they changed in their routine was using the age of the WIP to drive conversations based on the data and how ti compared with what they had done before. It helped them identify blockers and bottlenecks much faster and discuss action plans. It also allowed for a much smoother flow and better communication. I want to share their story as it might help more teams improve their work.
