From Chaos to Flow: How TOC and CCPM Shifted Our Agile Mindset

Overloaded teams, too many parallel initiatives, and unclear priorities—this was our starting point. To regain clarity, focus, and truly start commanding the ship, we applied the Theory of Constraints and Critical Chain Project Management across all levels of our portfolio. What followed was a shift from pushing work to managing flow based on data driven decisions, revealing systemic bottlenecks and triggering deeper conversations about value, time, and collaboration. It wasn’t just a process change—it reshaped our organizational mindset and aligned us more closely with Agile principles. This talk shares our lessons, struggles, and the surprising ways CCPM made us more Agile.

Key Takeaways:
- How TOC and CCPM helped us uncover and manage systemic bottlenecks across initiatives.
- Why limiting WIP and aligning around constraints on portfolio level beats micro-planning and reactive prioritization.
- How this experience built shared ownership and prepared the ground for a truly Agile portfolio.

Kerstin will speak together with Marta Orbitowska.
