Workshop—What If Everything Could Be Measured? (Spoiler: It Can)
“That’s impossible to measure!”
How often have you or your teams said that about trust, value, quality, or delivery predictability?
In this practical workshop, inspired by Douglas Hubbard’s “How to Measure Anything”, you’ll discover that even the most “immeasurable” concepts can be clarified, broken down, and measured in ways that directly support smarter decisions.
You’ll start by exploring what measurement really is (and what it isn’t). Through interactive exercises, you’ll learn how to break down intangibles using clarification questions and the Fermí method - simple tools that help you create useful estimates, even when data is scarce.
In the second part, you’ll connect these ideas to ProKanban flow metrics: Cycle Time, WIP, Throughput, and Work Item Age and explore how these metrics might help inform team decisions and reduce uncertainty… or do they? Together, you’ll challenge assumptions and reflect on when and how these metrics truly support better decisions.
What You Will Gain From This Workshop?
1. Learn how to break down “immeasurable” ideas using clarification questions that expose what really matters
2. Practice applying Fermí decomposition to create meaningful estimates when data is scarce or incomplete
3. Explore how flow metrics can (or cannot) help reduce uncertainty, and reflect on what decisions they actually support
Who is this for?
This workshop is for anyone who wants to help their teams or organisation make smarter, data-informed decisions — including Agile Coaches, Scrum Masters, managers, tech leads, and anyone curious about how to approach measurement in a meaningful, practical way.
